This is the original artwork, sold including the bespoke 76cm x 96cm frame fitted with anti-reflective, water white, UV protective clear glass.
Made exclusively from recycled Quality Street foils. The variety of foil colours is made more interesting with their logo also printed in various colours.
Continuing the Quality Street exclusive series of pieces, ‘Emily’ is named after Harold Macintosh’s wife. Harold Macintosh inherited his parent’s confectionery business and went on to invent Quality Street in 1936. Driven by the desire to produce boxes of chocolates that could be sold at reasonable prices, his idea was to cover different toffees with chocolate and present them in inexpensive, yet attractive boxes. To avoid having each chocolate presented separately inside the box, and therefore, reduce packaging costs, Mackintosh decided to individually wrap each chocolate, in coloured paper, and put them into a presentation tin without inserts, something Quality Street continues today, some eighty years on.
In previous years, Quality Street utilised plain coloured foils in combination with plain coloured cellophane, however the foil is now printed with their trademarked logo. This is the first work, from Lou, using logoed foils and it has produced an interesting final piece of artwork, with the logos different colours giving each foil strip more detail for the eye to examine.
Approximately A1 (76cm x 56.5cm) with a deckled edge, on 100% cotton, 640gsm, cold pressed, Aquarelle Watercolour paper by Arches.
Please note: If ordering from outside the UK, please email for postage options before purchasing.
